Since it was founded in 1997, Northwest Ohio Community Shares has distributed over $1 million for our member agencies and increased community exposure and funding for local non-profit organizations through cooperative federation participation. Below are just some examples of what your money can do!
$1 per week ($52/year) provides:
- Spaying or neutering two animals;
- Two snowsuits for homeless toddlers;
- Cleaning supplies kit for a previously homeless family’s new apartment;
- One teen’s participation in ropes courses to increase self-esteem and teamwork skills.
$2 per week ($104/year) provides:
- Supplies for computer and tutoring classrooms for teens;
- Disposable cameras for children to take on their wish trip;
- Food, treats, leash and collar for one assistance dog in training;
- Subsidized meals for local artists.
$5 per week ($260/year) provides:
- Funds for 7 calls to investigate animal cruelty claims;
- Printing and production costs of 200 Teen Health Guides;
- Funds to raise 3 orphaned opossums or nesting songbirds for release into the wild;
- Bus passes for 6 adults to get to and from employment.
$10 per week ($520/year) provides:
- Means to move a family out of a shelter and into transitional housing;
- A stipend for an aspiring lawyer to work on constitutional cases and issues;
- Co-sponsor one teen for a one year mentoring/hiking program;
- Vaccines to ensure that shelter animals are healthy and ready for adoption.
